Terms of Service
Last Updated: October 2026 • Neighborhood Controlled Pilot (Hubballi, Karnataka)
1. Controlled Pilot Program
Mohalla Kitchen is currently operating as a limited-capacity neighborhood pilot in Hubballi, Karnataka. To ensure safety and food quality, the pilot enforces platform ceilings: a maximum of 5 verified home kitchens and up to 50 total orders per calendar day.
2. Batch Ordering & Cutoff Deadlines
All meals are prepared fresh in home batches. Orders must be placed before the cook’s declared cutoff deadline (typically 2 to 4 hours prior to dispatch). Once the cutoff deadline passes or batch capacity is reached, orders close automatically.
3. Payment Policy (Option A: Balance Due at Handoff)
- 50% Advance (split_50_50): 50% advance is paid directly via UPI to reserve ingredients. The remaining balance is collected and verified at delivery or pickup.
- Full Payment Upfront: 100% of order total paid via UPI prior to preparation.
- Pay at Delivery: Full payment settled in cash or via UPI at doorstep or pickup point upon handover.
- Handoff Verification: Orders require entering a secure 4-digit handover OTP. Handover is finalized only after both the OTP and any remaining balance are confirmed.
4. Cancellations & Refunds
In the event of an emergency kitchen cancellation or batch shortage, cooks initiate refunds directly through the system. Customers receive status updates and reference proofs for refund resolution.
5. FSSAI & Food Hygiene Standards
Participating home cooks must comply with applicable local food safety regulations and hold valid FSSAI registrations. Kitchen hygiene standards and workspace photos are reviewed prior to cohort approval.
